Thoughts and feelings are "implicit" if we are unaware of them or mistaken about their nature. We have a bias when, rather than being neutral, we have a preference for (or aversion to) a person or group of people. Thus, the term "implicit bias" is used to describe when we have attitudes towards people or associate stereotypes with them without our conscious knowledge. The Full-Time MBA Program is offering this as a requirement for orientation for personal and professional growth.

Human beings are born creative. However, as we learn from others in our paths through life, that creativity becomes constrained by systems that teach and reinforce binary problem solving, focusing on one "right answer." This methodology teaches us to build mental algorithms and heuristics that become rigid paths of thinking, saving time in decision making, but compromising a student's ability to explore alternatives. As future business professionals, we must work to embrace creativity. This course is the beginning of a journey to show graduate business students that your internal creativity, while perhaps currently latent, can be harnessed to develop new ways of problem solving.
